What We Did On Our Summer Vacation

Or at least what we did while it was too warm to have to wear socks. Unlike now, when it is not even October, yet it takes some major psyching out to get out of the warm, toasty bed and into the cold, cold world. Or at least into the cold kitchen to make some tea.
Wow. It was so long ago I'm not sure I remember.
July.
We saw fireworks on the beach in Evanston with Christy and Randy. Jesse said to Christy, "Hey, you want to hear something funny?" And she said, "Sure, Jesse, what?" And he says, "What the hell is it? 'Member that one?" Needless to say, she was speechless. It's always thrilling when three year olds quote Steve Martin sketches...
Our lovely niece came to visit for the 4th (count em, 4) summer in a row. We're now up to ten days. We figure by the time she graduates high school we'll just have an extra room for her. She worked on her cooler packing skills and I must say she is talented. None of us went hungry or thirsty when Carolyn packed the cooler. Unlike Scott's overpacking with things no one wants and my inability to realize that people will get hungry and one peanut butter and jelly sandwich just is not going to do it. Carolyn is a master of the cooler. She also turned 13 while she was here. She and Zeb ran the lights for the summer show- they were brilliant. Zeb especially liked the part where the cast gestured to him and he waved most enthusiastically.
We also did art class in Jan's back yard and made cool things which I need to take pictures of. So stay tuned for part II.
Hey, and that's only half of July...
